keep enjoyglu alive: yearly tribute.

Post by bobnugget »

Me and asa got to talking. the board seems pretty dead after all the major projects finished up and shipped. it is just empty and lonely. It's depressing.
We need to find something we haven in common, so i come up with the idea of making an annual tribute. Bring people back. Relive it. It will also bring something new each year too. Noone will be stuck looking back saying man i could have done better, because you can there is always next year!

Rules:
New comers are welcome.
Im in charge this time.
Deadline is the same date every year.
March 31st, 2011 is the first deadline. (an arbitrary date asa picked.)
The title will include the year the tribute is made.
No one can cover the same song twice.
Can we use live covers? yes ONLY if sound quality is up to par.
Assuming there are fewer of us now than there were on the first tribute we might limit it to just a yearly e.p., like 5 or 6 tracks. However up to 18 if we have enough people.
ANY SONGS WITH SOUNDBITES WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED. (of GLU, David, Etc. They were over used in "Drowning in air tribute")

Q&A
Q: haha. the first one took 4 years to make. I don't think annual would be possible.
A: i picked up the project from randy 3 years after the idea come up. i spent so long figureing out what to do. I had to pay for everything my self too. i have everything down this time.

2011 is up for grabs etc
PICK YOUR SONG! :)

im up for something, however with my limited musical prowess, it might be kind of difficult, so if anyone is interested in a collaberative contribution, let me know. also, are we allowing non-GLU related sampling?

also, and this is up to you guys, but maybe we could have a track by track submission (i.e. guitar, bass, drums... all in seperate tracks). this way it allows for further remixing or alternate versions and remastering. again, totally up to you guys

i dont do the songs, i do everything else, from art to getting the cd in your hands. i dont really care what you guys do as long as its good enough quality for average joe to listen to, it meats the deadline, and it fits the other rules.

Hi. I have been reading this thread and registered so that I could hopefully get in on it. I'd like to do the song 'Nothing'.

Just rediscovered GLU after not listening for a few years. Fan since the Empty days.

Yeah, I've recorded lots of music on my computer and in the recording studio. I'll take a crack at this.
