the album will also go live on iTunes and Amazon.com mp3 store the same day that the physical disc hits stores...
dont worry, we already have all the "downloadable" formats covered at this time...

...I'd hope so. At least half of the 'Pre-Release' songs were recorded off of David's myspace page, not downloaded from. There copies of the original.
So, quality wise, a 'CD version' ver. 'myspace copy' on the ftp, should be a noticeable difference. Let alone, 'Keep Dreaming' went through so many revisions, I'm sure the 'final' version on the ftp, probably isn't.
Yeah, digital accessibility (iTunes/Amazon) is a must. But at the same time there are people out there who still like having the 'real thing' in CD format.
Honest, I think that's the litmus test anymore, people only really buy CD's that they love almost every track off of... and I don't think we have a problem with that for this CD.

I guess I'm curious to know how much of the album is 'done'. (dunno how much you can say about it, though, lol.)
But things like...
How much is left to be mastered? Are any of the 'completed' songs going to be redone?
If Love My Way is on the CD, has everything been 'ok'd' for it's usage?
Is the artwork finished, sitting on someone's hard drive? Or does that need to be commissioned? (If so, I defiantly want a professional to complete it, no contests or asking 'anyone' to come forward to work on it. Sorry to anyone who wanted to vie for it.)
Of course distribution is the major thing, but I don't even think I can comment about that. I guess I could say I was impressed how Nine Inch Nails released 'Ghosts' but I'd have to do a whole lot more research to figure how that works out and is reasonable.
With the whole distribution thing, is there a way to check and double-check the 'final' pressing of the CD before it's all packaged and sent out? (Just to avoid the whole UOTF fiasco... not sure how that one got by anyhow...)
Umm... I think I inadvertently turned this into listing any hurdles that I could see in releasing the CD...
Edit:

lol, yeah, I was trying to justify why it should. Or at least I thought I was.

okay, I will answer as many of your questions as I possibly can at this point:
- Gretchen and I have made the final decision that the album is going to be released EXACTLY the way it sounds and was left by David the day he died. This means a lot of things, good and bad: no "guest appearances" from anyone that werent already recorded by David, we will not be be tampering with any of the mixing of the songs, we will not be adding any overdubs, layering vocals, adding instruments etc. This will basically be David's version of Jeff Buckley's Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk. Here are the good things about this: the tracks (and believe me, NO ONE here has heard any of the tracks the way they were completed up to the day he died, those myspace versions were just teasers of what he was doing...we have the masters of those tracks. Basically, you know 100% that you will be listening to the album completely untainted by anyone's outside decisions... The songs are done and were ready for release at the time of his death, so why should we mess with them when he's not here to tell us if thats something he would have done in the first place???? Follow where I'm going with this... I will tell you this though: We have decided to master all the tracks so the only thing that will be touched up at all is the compression of each track and making the master volume of each track the same.
- At this point in time we are recognizing "Love My Way" as a track recorded during the sessions however to be honest, you may see it as a "bonus track" not listed on the CD after a bit of silence or something to that nature so we can get around the legality of using it... ssssshhhhh!!!
- Any of you that have read my book about David will know about the artwork for the album since I discuss it in the book: the artwork for my book about David, "Dreams Are Unfinished Thoughts", was designed by the same guy who David HIMSELF hired to do all the artwork for How Humans Rx. David trusted only 1 man, Jeff Cavanaugh, to work on the artwork and David approved all the artwork and layout before he died with Jeff. So, you will be getting all the artwork for the CD that David has already approved!!! You cant much cooler than that!! This was the #1 reason why I hired Jeff to design the book's artwork, only because David trusted in him so much with the CD.
-the final master of the CD will be checked by myself, and Gretchen before it gets the green light to be pressed, so there will NOT be a UOTF fiasco again with this release...
I hope this answered some of your questions...

I appreciate the long response, I didn't expect that, but I defiantly support everything so-far decided.
(Sorry about the CD artwork question... I completely forgot it was finished... and done by the same person who did your book's artwork. Which is kindda obvious when looking back.)
But of course, Thank you for all that your doing and have done.

I like the idea of leaving it as it was and not changing things, that was my big fear about this record finally getting released, so I feel more at ease over the idea. I assume it won't being coming out on a major label though, cause they love to force "little tweaks" to "help it sell"
