I think releasing How Humans R(x) strictly within the Mantic package is limiting sales of David Reilly, and forcing people to buy the book. I bought the book as a PDF attachment for $7. You offered people 6 ways to buy your book. Selling David's cd exclusively with one package isolates anyone who chose the first 5 ways to buy your book. It's great that your book is doing well, but am I supposed to spend another $65, plus my $7 I spent, so $73 for How Humans R(x)? That's an expensive CD! You may as well get rid of the other 5 ways to get your book. So I vote to release How Humans R(x) commercially, or reconsider how to release it. Don't isolate the fans!!! This is about great music seeing the light of day....it's not about a book, or a college fund.

I abolsutely hear what you are saying... the other route we could go is anyone who has already bought the Mantis Package will get a free copy of the CD, and anyone who buys it from here on out it will just automatically get included in the mailing and for everyone else (like you said) we'll charge a flat fee of $10 (or something, I'm just using that amount as an example.)

Thanks for the update.
I have to say, I’m not digging the idea of the CD only for the mantis package either. I didn’t buy that set because I already had the ‘extra-extras’, so I bought the set that was a step down from that.
Shoot, at this point, I’d be happy if it was digital only on itunes/amazon (not sure how viable, but I know two labeless bands who have there work on itunes and amazon [though, I really haven’t researched if there’s a monthly/yearly fee or how much per sale goes to apple/amazon]. But, that way it’s somewhere at a ‘main music site’ and no bother with distribution and everything.
If that’s not possible and personally mailing it is the only option, I’d be happy with a burned CD with some permanent marker scribbles (to keep costs down and get the CD out quick).
It’s the content I’m looking forward to, not the designs.

I believe he said around late winter of 2009, so basically probably March of 2009. Keep in mind he has his own life and goals he is trying to attend to. There is no way I could drop everything in my life to do something like this.

My "labeless" band, Transpose, has our debut album on iTunes (along with our cover of "Miss You More Than Anything")... its a yearly fee per song and then a 1 time "maintance" fee to convert it to AAC. It costs about $40 a year to have iTunes host a full length album. They pay you $0.60 for every $0.99 track sold.
Thats basically how iTunes works

I'm glad to hear you're not being stonewalled on the album rights. We're GLU fans, we're used to delays. As long as it gets out we'll be okay.

I had another lengthy leeting with Gretchen last night about the CD. It will be easier to giev all you guys the "minutes" in a bulletpoint format:
- Walt Bass bought all the rights to the entire album for $1.00 from RuffNation when they went bankrupt.
-We have a $5,000 offer on the table right now to buy the rights from him.
-If he holds out and won't sell, we have a mastered version of the album that was approved by David before he died stored away from everyone. Keep in mind this is not the version of the CD that would have come out if David was alive, this is a more "true" version of his vision. Only 3 people in the world have a copy of this version of the album (myself, Gretchen, and Jeff Cavanaugh). We will release this version of the album for FREE via a website that Gretchen has already bought:
http://www.DavidReillyOnline.com
-Jeff Cavanaugh will be doing all the artwork for the CD, whether its the free version or a distributed version from Walt.
I should have more to report in about a week...

thanks for the update.
Tis a shame that Walt appears to be holding things up.

One dollar for the rights to the album recordings. WOW.
Also: I wonder if RuffNation would have gone under had David lived and the album made it to press.
