I just got a call from the guitar repair guy... he says whoever tried to originally change the pickups cut the neck pickup coils really short, tried to solder an extension on, and now it's unusable. He said the EMG pickup that's already on it is in great shape and all that, but i will need to buy a new one for the neck... i can either put in a used pickup like what's already in the neck that is only active (i think he said only active and he said i wouldn't want that but he can install it if i really want to go the cheap route) or i can put in a brand new one that isn't just active with a warranty for a discounted price of $79 (normally over a hundred) and he will do ALL installation work and stuff for 50. so like 136 bucks total he said. He said in the end the pickups together will be worth more than the guitar itself, but if i ever buy a new guitar i will definitely want to install these pickups in them so i need to keep them.
This is more expensive than i originally thought.
Poo.
So much for it being a "free" guitar... hahaha

Yeah man it still cheaper than buying a new one.... This one in this pic...
This guitar is a no namer.... I bought it for $80 at Guitar Bar in hoboken.... I then bought Seymour duncans on ebay for like $40 a piece.... My friend donated his acoustic Carval or whatever the brand is guitar tune heads for it.... Now that guitar kicks A$$..... Its my favorite.... Between me and my other friend we solder the pick ups.... Turns out that Seymour duncans reverse the wires.... Black is positive and the white is negative.... Once I took it to my guitar repair guy he just switched the wires and bam.... The guitar till this day has no problems.... So you do get what you buy it for... In your case it was free but with like SIlver said with conditions....

I called back at the end of the day, and asked what EMG it already had in it and what he was putting in as the neck pickup replacement...
He said it has an 89 in the bridge (same as an 81, but you can change between it's coils?) and an 85 in the neck...
Most sites say put an 81 in the bridge and an 85 in the neck, so i guess i'm pretty much set.
FINALLY GET IT OUT TOMORROW. WOOHOO.
He even stayed late tonight after work to work on it.
Wonder why he's being so nice...

NIce... Even if money is tight trust me that it will last you a long time.... Unless you trash it.... Which I don't think you should do that.....
