unfortunetaly I cant not name any names, or name any studios due to the fact that I dont want this to leak out, piss off the people who are interested in doing this, and be in jeopardy of blowing the deal.
Lets just say that there is a certain man, who came to me (whose name would be familiar with GLU fans) who is involved with film production in CA and asked me to give him a call.
After a handful of phone calls, IMs, and messages through the myspace page, it looks likes we are going to try to move forward with getting funding for production.
Of course I have to finish the book first, and then it will have to go adaptation of a screenplay (either a screenplay writer will be hired, or I will do it myself. If I dont do it myself I will insist that nothing gets green-lighted without my personal approval.)
Also, I want casting to be approved by me, but it doesnt necessarily nee to be done by me. In fact, I dont care if I have anything to do with the making of the film at all, I just want to be the "George Lucas" of the fi;m where nothing goes forward unless I say YES.
I have to be like that because not only is this MY writing, but these are MY memories and MY stories with David. Its not just sone biography that I am writing. This is my life too.
But like I said, this is only in discussions right now....but doesnt everything start with discussions? So I guess we are have completed Stage 1 by just being approached by Mystery Man from CA and him being actually serious about shooting the film.
sounds rad

I think poopage is certain in lieu of these events. I've got a 12 pack of double rolls, though, I think I'm good to go.

I would love an indie size budget, but right now all the discussions are leading towards the Clerks size.

From the way he's talking, I don't think he's talking about a documentary.

right, we are talking about an adaptation of my book. My book is not a biography so the film wont be a documentary.
The book has a plotline, and reads like a novel with an exposition, middle, end, conflict resolution etc.
In other words, if you had never heard of GLU or David Reilly in your life, you could buy this book and what you would have is a story about 2 people from totally different backgrounds becoming best friends over the course of 11 years.
