how is it?

that all of sudden we're getting spammers? are they bots or what.

idk, but it does seem like the frequency has increased quite a bit. the last one i can remember before all of this wave, was the jagstang one. but, i do think that they are bots, because, most of their posts, make no sense.

They didn't start posting much until I put some blocks in to not display unverified users and users with no posts in the memberlist. Now they got the bots posting. Not much else I can do other than require memberships be approved by an admin. That's something I would rather not do because it might discourage some people from registering for the forums.
So for the time being I'll just keep cleaning things up every day or so. Blocking email domains and IP addresses as they post. Hopefully the next version of phpbb will have some better member verification options. That should be out in the next 3-4 months.
