Are you talking about the official release??? Because if you get the promotional one its better quality than the actual release...

Actually, I'm kind of surprised that nobody that got a burned copy from David during the RTA days has uploaded the wav files frim it. That would be the way to go.

doh! you had to mention the CD back during the RTA days!!! I never got the RTA CD, I sent him more cash, never got the CD then he said he'd send me UOTF, never got it...it's all water under the bridge because he eventually sent me all the stuff via mp3 but I remember how frustrated I was to hear some new GLU/REILLY and dave was having all the issues back then with the CDs stolen and ####...

I have UOTF burnt from David and sent to me via mail back in 2001. I have burnt it for quite a few people here on the forum who have asked for a real copy of it. If you didnt get RTA and paid for it, that may have been my fault (I was in charge of getting the RTA cds out to the people who sent money).

man, I wish I had kept all the hate e-mails sent to David about the RTA dibacle... he forwarded most of them to me. The whole RTA thing is a full section in the book since I was the person who was in charge of it.

well that's kinda f%^&ed up that people would send hate mail and stuff. I was dissapointed but I wasn't gonna write hate mail over it..but I bet it was an interesting read.
I am sure the section in the book will be as well!
kinda makes me liken it to when I had a friend at a record store confirm UOTF official release was slated for release on so and so date back in 2000 and was listed in the catalogues...I went there that day and it hadn't arrived in stores..dave had somewhat dropped off the radar for a minute and needless to say the official release didn't come till much later...and we all know that story

Hey, I'm just wondering, why do people think the released CD of UOTF sounds worse than the pre-release mp3s? I just listened to a few from the retail CD and it sounds a bit cleaner...

no, not the pre-release mp3's, in fact that is where this discussion originally came from.
there was a super clean copy of Up off the Floor (complete with Choirboy and Fame) about, ####, 6 years ago now. David obviously had some, and so did a few others. these clean copies made it around. Someone uploaded it, but whoever did, uploaded it as mp3 (killing the original pristine quality), and eventually it became hardr to track down a copy of the promo release (see images section for boring old b&w cover). Anywho, all most of us have heard now (with a few of our more 'elite' members excluded) are the mp3's, which share, almost, the same terrible quality. for further proof that UotF had terrible quality, throw it in your car, turn it up loud. The hats are underwater, the guitars are muddied, and what the #### is that random cell phone beep? this actually happens to a regular amount of bands. in fact Not so long ago, Geffen records accidentally released the demo's for Nirvana's In Utero, over in Germany, Just because at some point the wrong masters were forked over to the manufacturer, so now the germans have a pacaged, beautiful copy of these rawer dirtier tracks. Megaforce however, just sucks ass. personally, i would have been happy with demos, that would have been sweet. however, this disc was sad.
was that a rant.
can anyone send me a DIRECT COPY of the original UotF. not burned mp3's, but a rip of the promo?
