I love GLU, and just found this board. I was introduced to their music in 1996 (I was 16yo), and it was exactly the kind of music that resonated with me. My best friend at that point also loved them, and I think we saw them live at least 10 times. We lived in Philly so saw them whenever they played in NYC, Philly, or DC. I was at a NYC where Dave was so drunk he skipped a verse on Fool or Empty, broke his guitar, and the next night in Philly at the TLA he was sober and it was the best show I saw them do. I'll never forget being at one of those Y100 fests in Camden and GLU came out just as a torrential Tstorm started, it was surreal and they sounded great.

But my best memory is probably from when after GLU split up and Dave's new band was doing a concert at a small bar in Philly. My best friend and I went to it, I got absolutely ####, and by the end of the night I literally walked on stage, sat down next to Dave, and started singing and making requests. I don't remember much of it, but my buddy says Dave got a kick out of it. That was shortly before his untimely passing.

Now, my friend who was into GLU is in the hospital with an undiagnosed neurological disorder that came out of nowhere. He was fine three weeks ago. So I brought in a CD player to his hospital room and have been playing GLU for him. I hope it's helping.

In any event, I also need to go order the special tribute CD on this site. I also wonder how many of the people on this site I have run into at GLU shows. I have some old GLU photos from when they played on South Street at a very small venue (the something Grill, might not even exist anymore), and when I go home next I will upload them to the site.

Just checked the awesome tour dates on this site, here are the ones I was at...

1998-02-25 Philadelphia, PA – Pontiac Grille [Fluroscein, Blue Collar Underworld]
1998-05-29 Camden, NJ – Y100 FEZtival, Tweeter Center
1998-07-19 Washington, DC – 9:30 Club [Stabbing Westward]
1998-07-22 New York City, NY – Roseland Ballroom [Stabbing Westward]
1998-07-23 Philadelphia, PA – Electric Factory [Stabbing Westward]
1998-10-02 New York City, NY – Coney Island High
1998-10-04 Philadelphia, PA – Theater of the Living Arts [Plastic Eaters, BCU]

What great memories...

Bob, I did give it a listen! Some tracks I really enjoyed, some were just ok. I need to listen again to really analyze, but 23 was probably my favorite. All in all a great thing to put together in tribute of GLU.
