From what I heard David was clean and off drugs. However, his body like his Uncle's (who was a heavy drug addict) was like that of a 93 year old and his body just gave up-I belive David Reilly's stomach ruptured which is what caused his death.
Please keep his family and friends in your prayers.

Hey, this is Kristine. As far as I know, David had some problems in his sleep on Friday night. He had, for some reason, internal bleeding which went to his lungs. David had severe brain damage, so there was nothing the hospital could do, although they tried for hours. His family and girlfriend were with him when he passed. Tom, I have passed on your love and prayers. If you want to start a special thread for his family, I'm sure they would love it. The funeral will be on Thursday or Friday. I'll let you know when I find out for sure. If anyone has any questions, you can e-mail me:
dodge96acr@aol.com.
Kristine
PS
David was completely clean. No doubt about it. We are all proud of him.

sadly, this will not carry the same weight that the passing of other musicians has.
people always comment on kurt cobain, jerry garcia & jimi hendrix. few will ever comment on ian curtis, or johnn balance. even fewer will comment on david reilly. this saddens me as the latter three, in my opinion, were better musicians the the former three. if only music in this society was judged by its own merit, not by 13 year-olds that only know what they see on MTV.
david's talent & genius will not be forgotten in hearts.
i extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends, loved ones, & fans.

Dave dedicated his life to his music, and his music touched all of us. My cousin originally got me into GLU back around 1998. The first question he asked when I told him about Dave's death was "OD?" Dave was not a saint, although he seemed to give his all to his fans when he had the presence of mind to. Things were looking up for Dave. We should all be proud of how far he came in the last year of his life. The dude overcame doubt, possibly the worst poison.
As greedy as it might sound, I hope How Humans R(x) sees a release in some shape or form down the line. Dave deserves to go out on the top again, with a final major label release showcasing his art in top form.
Either way, he will not be forgotten in the hearts and minds of his fans the world over. Dave had the unique talent to cut straight to the heart with his songs, and so it's impossible not to feel a sense of loss at his passing, even if our personal experiences with Dave the Man were limited or nonexistant.
Don't lament that Rolling Stone isn't going to run a cover story about his death. Do your part to pay homage by continuing to share his music with your friends and family and that'll be enough of a tribute.
Edit: "I know it sounds insane, but things happen for a reason, if only to give you insight into illness."
David Fitzgerrald Reilly
Edit: "im the luckiest, happiest guy in the world."
