the gza
funny you should mention that, i just heard on the local college station tonight that the GZA (the genius from the wu tang clan) is going to be playing a show tomorrow night at the Paradise in Boston. i am thinking of going...oh crap..I CANT!! i have to work..oh shucks...maybe i should call in sick, hahahaha.... i love the GZA's voice and his solo stuff is really good... i still do not own any of method man's solo album but omg his voice is like buttah!!! and he rhymes so well and his beats are so good, not liek stupid Jay-z ("99 problems" has a good background loop tho).
im also really getting into dialated peoples, the roots, blackstar, wyclef jean, and a bunch of others... i just love the honesty of the lyrics and the trueness of the melodies, not liek made-up boybands or stupid britney spears pre-made pop music...ugh.
i went to the bookstore tonight and got a book about the history of hip-hop its really good. ive only read liek the first 20 pages, but its really informative and talks about how the 60s and the 70s really affected people and laid the foundation for the way hip-hop became.
im really angry at the state of rock music. i got this book also with interviews with Jello Biafra and Henry Rollins. Henry was mentioning how neccessary it is to work within the system of major labels, but if it doesnt sell cds get sacked from stores, and liek 30% of music in big chains are good, while the rest suck and the overload of music options kind of turn people off since they spent their money for a hit-or-miss chance that the albums they pick will be good or if they suck really really bad. at least it totally feels that way.
