visiting the grave / dave's sister / staying @ the apartment

Post by Jawa242 »

so last weekend, Mike (Energy51) and myself took the 6 hour drive to Ambler PA and visited Dave's grave for the first time since his death. We stayed with Gretchen and Billy at Dave's old apartment for 3 days. We visited where David went to kindergarten, the first 2 places Dave lived when he was a toddler, the hospital he died in, the funeral home where the funeral was, and some other places.

Being at the grave with Mike and Gretchen and Billy (Billy is Dave's 8 years old nephew) on saturday was crazy. It was dark and drizzly outside. I felt good visiting him however I couldnt shake the feeling that he wasnt really there. And I dont mean that I was in denial of his death and he was under that ground, I mean I felt like his precense was the least strongest at the grave. It really did feel like we were looking at a big stone in a grassy field.

I feel him more strongly in other places. It was very powerful to be there and talk out loud to him, and very VERY sobering. It seemed like 11 years of friendship was all contained inside that ground. As sad as I was, and get, I am so proud of him... and I would never for a second want him back here on earth if he had to live through again what he lived through while he was alive. I'm sorry but I cant be that selfish, I can wait to see him in Heaven in a few decades, where he is always healthy and always happy.

I posted a handful of picts from the trip on the MySpace page, there were about 50 picts total taken over the 3 days. If anyone wants to see all the picts e-mail me and I'll send them. There are 3 different shots of the grave, I posted the most "respectable" one on the myspace page.

I also posted a pretty detailed blog on the myspace pages about the trip. The full story will appear as a seperate chapter in the book.

I'm glad he got to come to terms with alot of the pieces of his life that weren't always right before he died. At least he was actually LIVING his life before he died. I'm happy for him. Gives me hope.
