new tribute site to david will be rebuilt
dave sherman has torn down the first and second of my tribute sites to david. i will be making a new one soon. i am very discouraged right now and id like to punt dave sherman's 5'7 ass into the atlantic ocean, but i promise he wont stop me from allowing fans of david to enjoy a tribute site to him. just wait awhile until i figure out a way to kill him... im kidding. i will put up the site soon, but it will take a bit. the new site is www.myspace.com/davidreillyreturns its already there, but contains nothing. check back periodically. - m@x

just wonderin
maybe I'm just dumb about the issue but how does someone punt your page on myspace? if you make a page on myspace and have yourt own password and stuff how does someone screw it up..and not to stir up the bees but wtf are people still doing these things for? I hear D Sherman's name coming up a lot..whats the deal with him..I know little about him other than he was buddoes with dave or some stuff like that..is he on this site? whats with all the beef? can't we all just get along?

....perhaps myspace is not the best of ways to honour Mr. Reilly?
i mean, (and dude, i am in NO WAY chastizing you here) myspace is kinda gay - and besides if someone's gonna do something as a tribute to Reilly-san perhaps Dave Sherman oughtta be in on it, seems like if anybody should do it, it's be him.
maybe we could add a DR memorial page to enjoyglu?
that'd be kinda cool.
or....maybe we should just quit with the whole "honouring david" thing and just let him go....?
now don't get me wrong, i love Dave as much as any of you, he's always been my idol and hero, but i'm just trying to be real here. any thoughts?

youre EXACTLY right: dave sherman should be doing a tribute to him, if anybody. unfortunately, he doesnt do JACK #### but tear down other people's tribute sites to david. david deserves a tribute, myspace or otherwise. im putting a good amount of money into a dotcom site that will be totally dedicated to david, but its gonna take awhile. i have to find a talented flash programmer and website designer. i want it to be the best it can be. until then, i can only keep rebuilding the myspace tribute site every time Shortman tears it down. bottomline: WE SHOULD NEVER FORGET DAVID, and 'letting him go' will only lead to that. he made his mark here on earth. i believe its our duty, fans and friends, to continue to make that mark shine.

I think it's cool that there are tribute sites.
I want to hear David Reilly's music. Anyone else who says you're doing something wrong is just weird.
I respect Mr. Sherman but we all know that 'if' this CD is ever released it won't be for a long, long time.
Remember folks 'UOTF' took 5 years to come out and when it did it was a disaster (horrible sound quality and missing 2 tracks)

that whole thing with UOTF seriously was a disaster.
I was working with (not at!) Megaforce at the time and the things that they promised me just never came about.
It was 'supposed' to be a digipak, multimedia disc with video's, interiews footage and interactive stuff on there, as well as stickers and a mini poster.
It just came out and when I opened the disc for the first time I was literally APPALLED by the fact that the CD tray that the disc is placed on-that there was no art behind it, just a white paper, I can think of fewer things that have hurt me. Artistically it was a blow.

can we petition against megaforce to have a proper release, maybe get Jeff on board, I mean lets say a print run of 100 copies. that's it. basically, one for each of us here at enjoyglu, and some leftovers.

my proper release: burning the orginal copy David sent me in 2001 into the order that the songs appear on the official version and adding Fame and Choir Boy to the beginning... I know 99% of us have that version of the album (the one David was making himself 6 years ago) so thats the only one I reach for.asamorris wrote:can we petition against megaforce to have a proper release, maybe get Jeff on board, I mean lets say a print run of 100 copies. that's it. basically, one for each of us here at enjoyglu, and some leftovers.

the use of the word tribute
ok I'm gonna throw in my opinion here..just one more peanut in a sea of ####. please keep in mind this is a rhetorical pondering and not directed at methadont or anyone else that has commented in this thread.
why have tribute sites at all?..I mean isn't any site containing GLU pics, vids, info, material a tribute site per se? of course unless the site is an amalgam of info on many bands, things etc.
I feel the word "Tribute" almost focuses on the negative connotations such as Dave being dead, the band defunct etc. I mean we should be building a network of shared info, materials, resources etc. as opposed to building rock god shrines and such ..right? I mean think about the reasons for doing this..why do you do it? When your granny passes away will you build a tribute site to her? I hope not..so why Dave/GLU? I mean let's face it not too many people (unfortunately) listened or even heard of GLU..outside of the assholes that say they have when you ask them about it and they lie and say they have...I have yet to even meet a person in person that has heard of them other than my old roomie in chattanooga..that's 1 person in millions I have met in the 5 states I have lived in and one other country since first discovering GLU. Comparitively though GLU was never as widespread as most bands with even half the talent GLU had..that's the facts. So you build a site to promote a person/band that you hope future generations will embrace? that's highly unlikely in this age of ala carte pop cookie cutter crap don't you think?
I mean if you wanna spend the cash to have a site of your own honoring some kick ass music..cool..it's your business, if you wanna make a myspace page..cool go for it...but for what point, is all I am wondering..to outdo this site? to prove you knew him better? to get some of that shine before the tarnish has completely blocked out the beauty of what was GLU? Sometimes I feel like people can only hang on to something by reliving it's death.....incessantly. Maybe it's all becuz Dave was not like a lot of high profile musicians..he was accessible, people got to talk to him,,,he actually visited these threads, unlike most musicians choose not to do..or are a little to high and mighty to do.....so before this turns into a ramble, my point being..why? I think almost everyone has seen all there is to see and hear now..there's nothing new coming out..it's been documented in my laptop and it just reaffirms statistically that we all should step off.
Most people that come here have been coming here for a long time...I just don't see what else there is to contribute other than some new fonts or a new layout or some more covers or something....that's not including the future WAW additions of course...nothing too groundbreaking is gonna come around...so I just wonder why? why do you do it?
