I didnt want to, but plast makes the best point anyone has ever made about all this, and there was something in one of his posts that made the most sense to me, anyway...
yes, I am the one writing a book about him, but its not really ABOUT him, and in the author's note I make the completely clear: the book is not a biography of David or the band itself. I also am aware that i was 1 of many people that came into personal contact with him outside a band environment.
I am not claiming, or ever claimed, I was his best friend. I just have 10 years of funny stories with a man that a lot of people admired and I thought these people might like to laugh along with me.
I am also not defending myself here either, I guess I am trying to make a point to Max that its not very flattering when you ALWAYS IN CAPS LOCK scream that you are the be all and end all of tribute sites.
Max and I have had multiple messages back and forth through myspace, some of them unpleasant and some of them mature and understanding. However what rubs people the wrong way, Max, is when you get this holier than thou attitude with David, like you copywrited the word "freindship" with him.
I dunno, thats my 2 cents... and I hope that everyone here understands that my book is not a self righteous endeavor, nor am I pushing it on anybody. I think thats where most people's problems with you lie Max.
I am staying neutral, that was a promise I made and I intende to keep.

i am neither david's biggest fan or his best friend. i am just vigorously defending my friendship with him because a few people continue to perpetuate these untrue rumors that dave and i cleared up face to face when he invited me to stay with him in philly in may of 2003. i put so much emphasis on this tribute site simply because i dont want anyone detered from visiting it because of unsubstantiated rumors. i can see how some of you are confused by my tone. wouldnt you want to defend yourself against an injustice that would prevent people from visiting your tribute site to a good friend of yours? it just ticks me off that this rumor still abounds, however, i agree with asa morris on this: stop all the bashing, the side-taking, the trivial arguments and petty insults. LETS JUST REMEMBER DAVID, and i am doing my part in that endeavor by putting all my efforts into this tribute site. - m@x

Jawa is right people will NOT respect you if you say "the ONLY TRIBUTE SITE ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET FOR DAVE" cuz i have a list of AT LEAST 8 different myspace profiles and groups (maybe not focused only on David but the work he has done) including 2 of mine i spent quite a while building and adding 300 people (takes a LONG ass time) 
and pussy fighting over who knew him better only hurts your selfs. I get some things may have come between you, but explain again why we should care and what it has to do with David Reilly and a myspace page. If you want to keep bitching about it pm each other...

just wanna say that (just in case anyone took me the wrong way) I was not bashing those of you writing books or anything and the more sites out there dedicated to DAVE/Glu the better..as far as any bashing towards you (methadont) over whether things were ever cleared up face to face or whatever between you and dave...well you and Dave know the truth..so thats all that matters..but here's a tip for you..if you don't bring it up then it won't come up..make your site, have your pics and such and let everyone see them.....that's all that really needs to be said or done about it all it seems to me..I think if your site is cool and entertaining no one will skip it, regardless of who made it. I was only stating as an observer that it seems you (meth) almost try to rile and instigate things..how about a post that said "Another great tribute site dedicated to dave!" instead of "the only"...in your mind you are keeping dave alive and that's great but every one of us who pop in a GLU/DAVE cd or play a song on guitar or do a cover or anything else are paying tribute in our own way and as long as it means something to the individual nothing else matters and in that way Dave will never die

Well my 2 cents on this is that either way whoever does anything to remember Dave, thats his own way and their way of showing gratitude.... But overall, I think Dave wouldn't approve of all this... We aren't here to play I am better friends with him than you... Thats just childish... So all of you just grow up and show Dave that we care about him and not who has a better relationship with him... Tribute sites are for his memory and not to be used for anything else...
Also your tribute site keeps getting taken away not because of David Sherman but because it does have some copyright issues... They took down my GLU tribute page because I had 'covers' of copyrighten songs although before Dave's page gotten taken down I did have an email of him giving me permission along with David Sherman... So its no one's fault...
