RIP Tim Turzo (jeff's little brother)

Post by Jawa242 »

I dont know how many of you know that Jeff's brother, Tim, passed away. I was friends with Tim and we spent a lot of time together during 1995 and 1996 on the GLU tours (Tim is a major "character" in the book all the way up to page 100 through the first 2 chapters since he was always there). Tim and I lost touch after 1997 and didnt speak again until March 2006 when he found out that I was writing the book on David and we reconnected again as friends.

Because I was not present at his death, I just recieved a message from his best friend explaining to me what happened so I would rather drop any heresay and speculation and just copy her message to me here:

Brian-
I'm going to tough it out and fill you in.

First off- I know Dave's death hit Tim very hard and put him into a spiral that only he could pull himself out of. Thankfully he was in a pretty good place in his life and surrounded himself with some caring people that got him out of his ruts when he'd fall in, but I think there was more to it than anyone could have lead on to know.

Most people know that in the past Tim had been a drug addict and finally turned his life around and started going back to college and finally even graduated (with me, from Rutgers University).

He had finally set some goals for himself to move out to California and be in a relationship with Raquel and start teaching where ever he could.

I don't know where things changed for him- but some how Tim started using heroine again; unaware to most (or all but one or two people). And ultimately- that's what stopped the amazing heart of my best friend.

I'm still so #### mad at him for this, and I think we all are. He finally had it all- but just wanted that one more thing. We all assume that he started back up once he graduated in May and had some time to kill over the summer before his next big adventure. I know he had been starting to hang out with this fellow Tommy who never seemed like a good person- and who I suspect got him back into things.

So thanks for knowing Tim, even though I really don't know you. I know he's probably got some master plan for all of us to meet one another and gain something from it.

Salutations-
Susan.

so thats it... I would recommend NOT trying to get in touch with Jeff about this (for those of you that have the ability). It just doesnt seem right. There is a memorial service for him saturday morning in NJ.
Here are some pictures of Tim, alive and how I remember him:

Definitly looks a character. His name is listed in the "in memory of" section of Break out the Battletapes.

That's so sad.
That's Jeff Turzo's second brother that died.
Dave and Tim
