Our more "Elite" haven't heard? hmm sarcasm I think? I had a few beers so maybe I am just not reading that section correctly? heheahhhhh I kill me. ok on to something that makes sense?

anyways I have a possible theory on the phone beep sound.

I've seen a few vocalists out there that use everything from keyboards, gasmasks, phones, and all kinds of other weird #### as microphones. Some unsigned musicians on budgets (like myself) and no Label dollars to spend can do something like this. You basically get a cordless phone and you set the speaker/base near a mic and you sing into the phone. It can add a really good high end vocal with bite, and even some distortion and they come out crisp. Also if you don't even own a mic you can run a line out of the phone speaker and into your computer or boards or whatevr and voila you have a microphone...though it's not going to be much for mid or full range tones. so anyways I think Dave was just recording using a similar method to that. When I listen to his vocals on that song, they sound similar to that..plus there's the phone beep at the end..which may or may not have been intentionally left in there?

just a thought

I just wanted to jump on your rant Asa and say yeah everything is muddled and mixed poorly in that album , but to me even in the clean versions the album never sounded finished to me. Maybe it was just the mixing or maybe I am thinking I heard the clean mix versions and haven't...I dunno but some songs sound really GLU and some songs sound really DAVE to me...but none of them really sounded like there were more than one take on dubs, no vocal harmonies stacked, fewer songs with synths and guitars also sounded like single takes. The songs themselves were awesome but If you listen to Fame and then the rest of the album you'll get what I mean..to me that song sticks out like a sore thumb because it sounds like it was studio mastered and such..the rest of the album doesn't ....just my observations

any thoughts?

i absolutely agree.

btw, i meant no sarcasm. just the fact that some of us have closer ties to the band than others. that's all.

no, UoTf definently sounds unfinished. seems funny. I know that when i record, i go balls out until whatever thing i am working on is done. maybe not the song, but vox, or guit, or whatever. so, i wonder, are there leftover takes that for whatever reason, weren't added, in a rush to just the the record out of the studio's hands? i would like to see a re-release. HAHAHA. never #### happen.

I would also love a quality of the higher quality CD. Maybe torrent the ISO or something?

asa yeah I didn't know what you meant to be honest...I had a drunken stupid moment..don't drink and type
yeah I agree with you on the studio rush or whatever..maybe it was just the tension between jeff and dave? I dunno..
It would kick ass to see a re-release of the album..hell it would be cool if Jeff took the album and kept the vocals and stuff and just went back in and filled up some space with guitars and some more synths and such...to be honest, I think that's what that album seems to be lacking. I always felt that previous GLU albums had a good mix of both guys...UOTF sounds like it just doesn't have too many of those jeff touches on a good chunk of the songs.

If it's all right I can upload a FLAC rip of the promo release (10 songs). Part of the whole agreement we had about the FTP was that it would only be for the rare stuff you can't buy.

Should I do it?

i mean, let's be straight here, the reason we don't want the official albums up there is because people will just download those, and not put the money into the album itself. but, I BOUGHT AN ALBUM. megaforce #### ME on that deal. so, i am justified.

So, does anyone here have an original copy of the CD? The really rare one with top quality Choir Boy? Because I'd really love a good quality version of that song.

UOTF_Advance 320kbps 10 tracks - same order as official
UOTF_Original_Download 128kbps 12 tracks different order

are they both Pre-Release rips, whats the difference other than bit rate
UOTF_Original_Download seems to have a stronger bass
they both sound better than my home rip @ 192 :?
i must have some really #### speakers or something cuz i cant tell witch ones better.
