If so what kind of timeframe are we looking at for a decision to be made about the two options?
Who would be releasing it commercially? A label or consignments?
Would it be widely available or just at a few chains?
Will there be an option to download by itself also?
Thank you for all your hard work and diligence in making this happen. It is very much appreciated by all.
Gretchen has power of attorney over David's estate (kind of like Courtney Love has over Nirvana). So it wasnt so much being succesful getting the rights as it is getting the final mastered tracks from Walt Bass, who owns the recordings. Jeff Cavanaugh has a copy of the album that David sent him before the tracks got mastered. Jeff is willing to master the tracks himself so we can just by-pass Walt's versions of the songs. And yes, Gretchen has an attorney so this little "sidestep" will all be legal in the copywrite world.
I am right now focusing on getting the GLU Tribute CD released, and my second book is being published by WordClay early 2009. When I say almost every waking spare moment of free time is going to getting my new book finished under deadline, I am not kidding. My own band, Transpose, just released our debut album independently in April and we are currently shopping it to labels while playing shows to promote it... so that seems to squeeze any other free time I have. I am NOT saying that getting How Humans R(x) into all of your hands is not a priority, it just seems that right now the GLU Tribute CD HAS to be priority due to it being now 12 months overdue and I HAVE to finish my new book before January. So I gues I took a long way to say simply: I cant focus on How Humans R(x) until at least late Winter / early Spring 2009, whether it will be commercially released or only availble within the Mantis Package.
If it gets released commercially it will be available through iTunes, CDbaby.com and 2 websites (an official DR site that will be run by Gretchen, and a MySpace page devoted strictly to How Humans R(x) probably headed by me). Jeff Cavanaugh, the owner of Armada Sound Systems, may possibly get involved with distrubution to retail stores. Right now, thats all I got on this angle of a release.
...and your welcome
