I do have a user's guide to Reason 2.0 but it was given to me as a gift, I think it was around 30 bucks at borders...

My friend has Reason and let me tell you that program kicks ass..... I really need to get it.... I still run out of N-track if you ever heard of it.....

Have you guys used Ableton Live 5.2? I just got it and I am too intimidated to mess around with it yet...

Someone is helping me out and sending me the video tutorial....

He also told me that Reason cant use VSTs and that it cant record live music...

I originally was told otherwise by someone else, but i guess not...

Apparently though, you can use reason within cubase as a virtual synth, and also load any vst you want into cubase at the same time... as long as your pc can handle it.

So until i can afford to get a decent synth, this is probably what i will do...

Anyone have any suggestions for a decent affordable synthesizer?

Why not get a M-AUDIO Ozone USB Audio/MIDI Mobile Workstation and then get a synth program for your computer......

Yeah i have reason 3.0.4, and i Downloaded cubsase and i have like 12gb worth of native instrument VSTs, thats why i wanna get a synth... at first to use as a midi controller.

Im just starting to mess around with Reason, i hear its great for beginners... Eventually i'll use Reason within Cubase along with VSTs as a virtual synth, but id like to get something like a Korg.

I'll look into what you suggested...

Right now i purchased a few books... the complete idiots guide to music theory, and a couple of remix books that are supposed to be great.

The video tutorial is great too because it gives a visual example of several things i was clueless on...

I wish i knew someone that lived close i could hang out with and learn from

I picked up somethings from my friend who has gotten into this computer recording programs a few years back.... He has a great set up.... You can view what he has on his page http://www.myspace.com/riffbox which I have recorded well started recording a song with him but due to his moving we stopped recording and will resume sometime in the winter.... Also Machine can answer lots of questions..... He is guiding me on what I need to build my home studio..... What are the names of the books you have???? Home recording for Dummies??? Just asking I might get them just to know a bit more on what I need to do.....
